Many people with low vision experience "visual crowding" when trying to read everyday information or study a document.

This happens when there is too much information crammed into a small area, making it difficult to concentrate on the section you want.

White paper, especially when it is glossy may reflect light in such a way that it can also create a lot of glare.

The typoscope reading guide and signarure / envelope guides can help with these problems.

They are rectangular pieces of black matt plastic cards with viewing slots cut out which can be placed over the text you want to read or write in.

This allows greater concentration on the text and cuts out the reflections from the white background.
